TJN Members Day to tackle the industry’s biggest issues

With the Future Homes Standard due in 2027 and manufacturers facing continued pressure to improve compliance, production and profitability, The Joinery Network’s (TJN) Members Day will tackle some of the biggest issues facing the timber window and door sector.

Taking place on Thursday 29 October, under the theme ‘The Future is Now’, the event will bring together manufacturers, technical experts and suppliers for a programme focused on regulatory change, product performance and practical ways to grow a joinery business.

Ticket sales suggest the event is heading for a full house, but there’s still time to book. All ticket proceeds will go to TJN’s chosen charity, Harry’s Pals, which supports parents of children with life-limiting illnesses and conditions. A charity raffle will also take place on the day.

TJN Managing Director Andy Ball says: “There are some significant changes coming our way, and manufacturers need to understand what they mean for their businesses. We want members to leave with practical information, a clearer picture of what’s ahead and ideas they can put into action.”

Kevin Jones, Technical Director at the Glass & Glazing Federation, will open the technical programme with an update on regulatory developments affecting timber windows and doors. Topics include the Future Homes Standard, potential changes to Approved Document Q, requirements affecting listed and conservation properties, and UKCA and CE marking.

The programme moves from regulation to practical application with live demonstrations from Teknos and Lignum, covering coating performance, warranty and life expectancy, including removing caramelised surface from Accoya wood and applying a Lignum Legacy Oak finish.

TJN will also demonstrate its Lignum Compliance Suite, explaining the documentation included in its free compliance pack and clarifying manufacturers’ responsibilities when supplying customers.

Looking beyond the factory, guest speaker Duncan Wright will examine the replacement window and door market from the installer’s perspective. Drawing on 12 years leading one of the UK’s largest joinery companies and experience running installation businesses, he will explore the challenges installers face and where timber products can compete.

The afternoon will focus on growing production and developing new opportunities through Lignum, including Lignum Accelerate, machinery partnerships, bespoke tooling and the potential for AI to support joinery businesses. Discussions will also consider how manufacturers can manage capacity pressures without taking on unnecessary risk.

A Lignum Manufacturer and Expert Zone will provide further opportunities to exchange knowledge with manufacturers, Affiliate Partners and industry specialists.

The Joinery Network Members Day takes place on Thursday 29 October 2026. Registration and refreshments are from 8.30am, with the programme starting at 9.30am.
